Cast iron pipes were widely used in older UK buildings, particularly for internal soil stacks and underground drainage. They are strong, fire-resistant, and provide good sound insulation, but they can corrode over time, especially in damp conditions.

HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene) – flexible and modern

Durability: 100 years or more. Maintenance: Very low – but correct installation is essential to prevent deformation.
